Tessa and I have been putting the finishing touches on our packing. Much better than last year for sure! I only had to get an extra duffle bag and the airline is only charging $35. I am so glad I though to get a baggage scale this year. That solved another fiasco from last summer in which we drove around LA in 95 degree weather trying to find a place to weigh our baggage (hours before we left) and finding out (after lugging 4 bags 3 blocks into a crowded FEDEX store) that I had to buy two more bags and pay $200 dollars to put them on the airplane. Oh the lessons we learn.
Tessa still has to rehearse her voice and monologues. Her voice teacher had to reschedule her reel taping from Monday to tomorrow morning. When we return Tessa will Skype with her new acting coach next week in preparation for her conservatory audition.
As usual it is always hard for me to say goodbye. Jamie and Chuck, the guys we are staying with have been delightful and have become our friends. Jamie leaves LA for two months to go on tour with The Little Mermaid as Skully. He is in his 50's and still doing shows! I will miss the cool breezes in the mornings as I sit by their pool reading and waking up. Of course this is luxury. But I will be thrilled to be in Pat's loving arms again and feel Scout our dog licking my face and Noelle our cat purring in my lap. Not so much the humidity and going back to work though.
Tessa will stay busy with school, going to the conservatory twice a week this year, voice and acting coaching and of course auditions. With Pat working full time and Kim in Kosovo it will interesting to coordinate it all.
Signing off from LA. When you hear from me next we will be back in Chapel Hill. Tessa has worked very hard this summer and has taken a large step forward. But it also takes a family to help a child follow their destiny. Thank you everyone for following this journey with us and I know that it wherever it takes us we will always have our friends by our sides.
