I finally took Tessa to Disneyland after some more intensive training sessions. Tessa had two private training sessions in a row for voice and comedic acting. We both needed a break.
We woke at 6:00 AM for the drive to Disneyland. I thought Tessa was excite, but I have to admit that when faced with the actual entrance to the park I broke into an excited run! Kim, Pat and I took Tessa and my mom when Tessa was 5. She had some memories but they were vague. As usual Disney does everything well. The park was impeccably clean and the different experiential worlds were beautiful. I could go on and on about each experience but basically Tessa and I covered the entire park in 15 hours and 20, 000 steps. Yes I took my pedometer. I was curious. We giggled, hugged, sweated, waited, paddled canoes and walked. It was a time to let go and really talk to each other. That was really the gift of the day.
Yesterday we headed to the American Girl store to get her doll's ears pierced. It was a lot of fun looking at all of the costumes from the historical dolls. Tessa bought a beautiful dress with some birthday money from the character Addy (pre-civil war african american doll). I got a phone call while we were there that Tessa had a Skype Audition for a small role in an independent film. Back into work mode. We finished up at the mall and headed home to prepare. Of course Tessa was focused on dressing her doll up!
This morning I am updating her online resumes with all of the new training she has received. Later I am calling an acting coach to set up a session before we leave. This one is recommended by her manager. We are hoping Tessa will like him and be able to use him through Skype sessions at home when she needs a quick comedic coaching for auditions. Time seems to be slipping away as usual.
