Wednesday was supposed to be a day to slow down. I told Tessa to just "VEG" out. Around noon I got an email... Tessa needs to make a tape for back east. I secure a taping time in Hollywood and print out the script. It was a small part so Tessa did not have to work too hard to memorize the lines. Cleaned up and dressed we headed to Hollywood around 2:45 PM. About a 20 minute ride from where we are staying. Everything went well. But while we were waiting to tape her manager calls me and told me I was supposed to take a CD I had received in the mail several days ago to this very location (Where we were sitting) and have it uploaded. I was holding things up. Guess where the CD was....you guessed it back at the house. After beating myself up a bit and Tessa telling me (throwing my words back ay me) " You can't be perfect mom. If every one was perfect then the world would be boring!" I took Tessa back, got the CD and left her home while I drove back to Hollywood to drop off the CD. About an hour of time. Luckily I missed much of the 5:00 traffic.
So awww! I can relax now. Oh.... No.... not so hasty Kathy. I get a phone call from the assistant to an acting coach I have been trying to connect with. We can fit you in Friday at 2:00 PM (The day I was going to take Tessa back for a visit to the beach. I'll send the monologue and she needs to be off book (that means memorized). I printed it out for Tessa at 8:00 PM and showed it to her. Sure she says. I take a deep breath working on my skills of letting go with her. She has to begin to own this. The coach wants her to learn it herself without my help. AAAGGGHHHH! OK I can do this :).
So today, Thursday I have to sit back and let Tessa work on her monologue and another script for a work session tonight at 7:00 PM.
We have a full schedule even after we get home. Friday is coaching. Saturday morning a hike with a friend and casting director. Sunday I am determined to get her back to the beach. Monday she makes a voice reel for her casting director sights. In between we wind down and begin the packing process.
Among other life things (such as going back to work) Tessa has an audition Saturday the 22nd at the NC Conservatory for an special Acting group and then another Casting Director workshop that same afternoon. Tessa is very concerned about this audition which requires 2 monologues and a cold read. I think she will do great!
